Thomas Müller (BMG) calls for further development of the early benefit assessment

Thomas Müller, Head of Department 1 at the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and responsible for medicinal products, made the case for further developing the early benefit assessment of medicinal products at the “Pharma Trends 2027” conference organised by Forum Institut.

His approach provides that, for medicinal products with a high unmet medical need according to regulatory criteria, the best available evidence at the time of market entry should initially serve as the basis for the benefit assessment. After a few years, a new benefit assessment is to take place that, in particular, also takes real-world data into account.
